Video and audio editing
A multi-track timeline with the editing habits you already have.
Litesum Motion is a video and audio editor built on a GPU-first engine: a multi-track timeline with the keyboard and mouse behaviour of established editors, video decoded and encoded on the graphics card, a colour-managed pipeline, and a real mixer. Everything stays on your machine. It has its own code, its own interface and its own project format.

Multi-track editing with familiar keys
S to split, J/K/L transport, automatic crossfades on overlap, direct trimming with roll, slip and slide, takes, groups, snapping, ripple modes and modifier drags. Shortcut profiles are switchable and held as data.
23 GPU effects, 5 transitions, titles
Colour (Curves, LUTs, lift/gamma/gain), detail, keying, stylise and geometry families, plus a title generator with outline and shadow. Every parameter animates with keyframes and six easing shapes.
Colour management through OpenColorIO
The display transform is a choice of display and view rather than a mode. Waveform, RGB parade, vectorscope and histogram scopes.
A real mixer
Track strips and buses, automation on gain and pan, stereo and 5.1/7.1 surround panning, and BS.1770 / EBU R128 loudness measurement — measurement only, never correction.
Hardware video, both ways
H.264 and HEVC decoded and encoded on the graphics card through Vulkan Video where the card offers it, written by Litesum rather than shelled out to a tool; software decode otherwise. Encode has no software fallback — on a card without an encode queue Motion refuses by name. Deliver MP4, QuickTime, Matroska, WAVE or a PNG image sequence.
Everything stays on your machine
No uploads, no cloud processing, and no account is needed to edit. There is no network path in the editing or export code.

Requirements
What you need to run it.
- Operating system
- Windows 11, 64-bit. Windows 10 has never been run here, so it is not claimed. macOS and Linux are intended and not built; neither is offered.
- Graphics
- A Vulkan 1.2 graphics card, developed and measured on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090. The render graph has a CPU fallback, so the application runs without a Vulkan Video capable card — it then decodes in software and cannot encode H.264 or HEVC, and AV1 export is unavailable regardless.
- Hardware encode
- H.264 and HEVC encode on the graphics card needs a card with a Vulkan Video encode queue. Where a machine has none, Motion says so by name rather than silently producing nothing.
- Signing
- Not yet released, not signed and not installable. The licence gate is not written.
Not yet supported
What it does not do, in the team’s own words.
This list is as load-bearing as the capability list. Each item is a recorded decision or a known gap, and the page must not imply otherwise.
- AV1 export
- Motion decodes AV1; there is no AV1 encoder, and adding one is an open dependency decision.
- B-frames
- H.264 and HEVC output has none, so files are slightly larger than a mature encoder's at the same quality.
- HDR10 mastering metadata
- No MaxCLL or MaxFALL. A PQ file is correct PQ but is not complete HDR10.
- Proxies
- None yet. 4K AV1 footage is not real time on the development machine.
- Audio effects
- No EQ, compressor, limiter or gate. Gain, fades, normalise, panning and loudness measurement exist; processing does not.
- Stabilisation, tracking, optical-flow retiming, noise reduction
- None of these exist.
- OpenFX plug-ins
- No plug-in hosting.
- Capture
- Nothing from a camera, capture card, microphone or screen.
- Text
- No automatic wrapping, no bidirectional text and no font fallback.
When a membership ends
Paid processing in Motion means rendering and exporting.
When a membership lapses, Motion refuses rendering and exporting — Render As, the render queue and any file written for delivery. Editing, playback, scopes, saving and reopening your project all continue, and no project or media file on your computer is touched.

Does it modify my media files?
Never. Source media is read, never written. Caches are disposable and live beside the project, not inside it.
Which formats can it export?
MP4, QuickTime and Matroska with H.264 or HEVC video and AAC (or PCM in MOV and MKV) sound, WAVE for sound alone, and PNG image sequences. AV1 export is not available and the application says so by name rather than failing quietly.
Do I need a particular graphics card?
Any Vulkan-capable card runs the editor, and the render graph has a CPU fallback. Hardware decode and encode need Vulkan Video support, which the application checks for and reports; without an encode queue, hardware encode is not offered.
Has it been independently reviewed?
Not yet. Motion's status is recorded in its feature ledger with evidence per row, and it gets the same independent review as Enhance before it is offered for sale.
