Litesum for education
Creative tools that hold no student data.
Schools, colleges and universities are asked to trust a great deal of software with a great deal of information about children. Litesum asks for none of it: pupils' work is processed on the school's own computers and never reaches us, because there is nowhere for it to go.
The strongest privacy position is not to collect.
Most software asks to be trusted with your data. Litesum is built so the question does not arise: the work stays on the machine that made it. A breach cannot expose what was never sent, a subpoena cannot compel what is not held, and a change of ownership or policy cannot reach back and take it. That is a structural guarantee, not a promise of good behaviour.
In a classroom
What that means for a school.
Six consequences of the same architectural decision, rather than six separate features to configure. None of them is a setting that can be switched on by mistake, because none of them is a setting.
- No pupil accounts inside the applications
- A learner does not sign in to Litesum to use it. There is no per-pupil profile, no class roster, no progress record and no login trail, because the applications hold no concept of a learner at all. The membership is held by the institution, not by the child.
- No work leaves the room
- Photographs, videos, documents and websites are processed on the computer in front of the pupil. There is no upload, no cloud rendering queue and no cloud storage — so coursework, portfolios and anything a pupil photographs stay inside the school's own network and its own backups.
- Nothing to disclose in a data-protection impact assessment
- The usual difficulty with creative software is describing what the vendor receives. Here the answer for pupil work is nothing, and the answer for staff is an email address and a licence record. That is a short assessment, and it is short because there is little to write down.
- No advertising, no profiling, no engagement design
- Litesum sells a membership. It carries no advertising network, builds no profile of a user, and has no interest in how long anyone spends in the application. There is no attention to sell and nothing is designed to hold it.
- Works without a constant connection
- A signed licence keeps a computer working between checks, so a lesson does not stop when the school's connection does. Editing and processing never use the internet in any case.
- Files that outlive the licence
- Exports are ordinary JPEG, PNG, TIFF, PDF, MP4 and HTML files. Coursework produced this year opens next year in whatever software the department uses then, and when a membership ends, files and programs stay right where they are.
What you own
You own what you make, completely.
Every file you open, edit and export stays on your own computer. Litesum never receives your work, so it cannot read it, cannot train on it and cannot lose it.
Your work never leaves your computer
Photographs, videos, documents and websites are processed on your own machine. There is no upload step, no cloud processing option and no cloud file storage. The internet is used for signing in, checking the membership, and fetching updates and AI models.
You keep every right to your work
Litesum claims no licence, no ownership and no right of use over anything you create with it. We do not need a licence to your files, because we never have your files.
Nothing you make is used for training
The AI models ship inside the application and run on your machine. They do not learn from your images, and nothing you enhance is sent anywhere to improve them.
Your files stay when a membership ends
Your files and programs stay right where they are, ready whenever you’re ready to resubscribe. Or simply uninstall — the decision is always yours.
Data, both directions
What is never gathered, and what a membership does hold.
A privacy claim is only worth reading if it names its own exceptions. The first list is what the applications never do. The second is everything Litesum stores about you, in full — an account needs an address to sign in with, and pretending otherwise would make the rest of this page worthless.
Never gathered
- No telemetry and no usage analyticsThe applications do not report what you open, what you edit, which features you use or how long you spend. There is no usage data to gather because none is collected.
- No metadata retentionLitesum keeps no record of your files: not their names, their sizes, their formats, their dimensions, their EXIF or camera data, their locations, nor any index or thumbnail of them. Metadata inside your files is yours and stays on your computer with the file.
- No constant online checksA signed licence lets the applications keep working without a connection, and there is no call home every time an application starts.
- No invasive fingerprintingA computer is identified for the two-computer limit by a machine-scoped identifier used for that purpose alone. Hardware profiling, kernel-level drivers and dongles are ruled out.
- No third-party advertising or trackingThis website carries no advertising network, no third-party tracking script and no advertising cookies. Litesum sells software, not attention.

Encrypted nightly backups keep daily, weekly and monthly copies, so a deleted account can remain in those backups for up to about six months, until they are replaced.

No signed installers yet
The installers are not yet code-signed, so nothing is offered as a public download until they are. Signed installers arrive with the release.
No data processing agreement yet
A DPA and the company details a procurement process needs are not available yet. If your institution will need one, tell us early.
No volume, site or education pricing yet
There is one membership at one price today. If your institution needs something different, we would like to hear what.
No independent audit or certification
Litesum holds no ISO 27001, SOC 2 or equivalent certification and does not claim one. What it offers instead is an architecture where the sensitive data never arrives, and published evidence for it.

The way Litesum is sold today — one membership, 2 computers, one card — does not fit a computer suite, and we would rather hear what a workable arrangement looks like from people who run one than invent it from a spreadsheet. If a data processing agreement, a procurement form or a security questionnaire is part of your process, send it now: it is more useful while the answers can still shape what gets built.
